The easy answer, security! If you choose to host your domain and email on the ADRA Cloud servers, that means only ADRA has access. The ADRA Source team have ensured the servers are secure and outside sources cannot retrieve any information.

There are also options available for free email accounts, and you would waive having to pay hosting fees if you used an external provider.

Over time we’ve noticed that many ADRA offices don’t know where their domain is registered or how to access it. Maybe it was setup by a previous colleague who left or even done through your local church or mission. 

Thankfully, there are ways we can help you figure out where it is currently being registered so you can contact the owner. You can search your domain on WHOIS or email our support team for help at [email protected]

There are cases where the owner of the domain may not want to give you access. In this case, you may need to consider purchasing a different domain.

Domains aren’t free. They typically incur a fee of $10-$30 annually which you pay to your domain registrar.

Popular domain registrars include Go Daddy, Bluehost, Dreamhost, and Google Domains to name a few.

Alternatively, ADRA can set up a free domain hosted by ADRA which will look like _.adra.cloud. These are not available with the extension .org

No. This is because the domain could already be registered and therefore not available.

For example, if we decided as a network that all ADRA domains had to include the country code i.e. adra.org.au, adra.org.mm, adra.org.cm etc. not all countries will find these domains available to purchase.

It is therefore the decision of the country office to select the most appropriate domain based on what is available.
