COMMUNITY

Meet, talk, and share ideas and resources easily with ADRA staff from around the network in HumHub.

Successfully communicating and collaborating with ADRA staff across the network, your country, region or group can be difficult – but it doesn’t have to be.

While the Workplace from Facebook platform has worked in the past, prohibitive costs and access issues meant a new solution was needed.

The answer – HumHub.

Using HumHub’s powerful, open-source tools, the ADRA Source team has set-up an easy to use, Facebook-style workspace to make talking about and sharing ideas and resources quick and easy.

With translation built into the system, communicating across countries and languages becomes easier than ever.

Plus, because it’s open-source and hosted by ADRA for ADRA, no one else has access to the information we share. And, unlike Workplace from Facebook, HumHub is free to use.

Humhub will make communication and collaboration easy and successful in a number of different ways:

  • For your Country Office – your own, internal HumHub workspace can make sharing and discussing ideas easy, no matter where you are.
  • For your Region – easily communicate with staff across the region on common issues and opportunities.
  • For the ADRA Network – with a space for all ADRA staff around the globe, ADRA’s Welcome Space will be an exciting new meeting point to help get you acquainted with HumHub. Plus, there are plenty of network level workspaces to join, such as for CoPs (Communities of Practice), Programs, Communications and Finance to name a few.
  • For other groups – You can request private workspaces be setup for specific groups, such as a working group, alliance, project between implementing/supporting offices etc. that are not public.

I love that we have a place where we can share updates, questions, and other interesting things. And to have a go-to place to watch out for them. Having HumHub to share current communications updates and resources during emergency responses is a game-changer. Let’s all use this tool much more to connect and exchange.

As a global network we have diverse knowledge, experiences, and access to information. However, not knowing how or where to find this information can be challenging. Since using HumHub, it has been much easier to connect, collaborate, and share across the network. I believe that HumHub helps to foster engagement and has given me a sense of pride in seeing how much ADRA has and continues to contribute to people in need.

Frequently asked questions

To create a new workspace, you need to contact one of the HumHub administrators or email [email protected]

At this stage, you as a general user cannot create your own workspaces, only system administrators have this ability.

HumHub does allow you to add files and manage them in your workspace. However, we have a much better tool available called Drive (NextCloud) and you can share a link to this in your module menu on the left of your workspace as well as links in posts.

There are several ways you can customize a workspace that you are either an owner, administrator or moderator of.

Watch this video tutorial to learn how.

Yes you can, you just have to change your notification settings.

You can find instructions for this in our HumHub User Guide for ADRA
